Climate Resilience and Environmental Stewardship

Integrated Support

Children As Environmental Champions

Deforestation has led to the destruction of water sources, exposing many families and children to water-borne diseases and water scarcity. Soil erosion has degraded farmlands and reduced crop yield, that has resulted in malnutrition and poverty among families. Given the prevailing situation, children will inherit a degraded environment unless we act now. ACHILD Kenya believes children are not victims of climate change, but that they are powerful agents of environmental restoration.

WHAT WE DO

We enable children to participate in environmental and ecosystem restoration. Every child we reach is trained on environmental conservation and plants two trees one at school, one at home. We enable students to establish environmental clubs. We provide them with adequate training and impart them with skills enabling them to become stewards of their own future. We have planted 22,600+ trees with 4,000+ children. Survival rates of these trees reach 67% at 24 months.
